2025: A Year of Change

Looking back at 2025, it's difficult to overstate just how transformative this year has been. What started as a new job in January evolved into something far more significant by the year's end: marriage, entrepreneurship, and a completely different trajectory for my career.

A New Chapter, Then Another

After five years as a lead developer at a smaller agency, I made the decision to move on at the end of January. The agency had been acquired by a larger corporate entity, and as often happens with these things, the culture and way of working shifted. It was simply time for a change.

I moved into a lead software developer role at a product company, heading up a small team tasked with rebuilding their core product. It was a different challenge to agency life and I enjoyed the change of pace. However, by August, an unexpected opportunity arose.

Two Clouds

In September, I launched Two Clouds, a software agency specialising in B2B systems and integrations. The timing was deliberate, coming straight off the back of getting married in Mexico. There's something about major life events that clarifies your priorities, and I knew I wanted to take the leap.

Starting any business comes with uncertainty, but I was fortunate to begin with a solid foundation. Three companies I've worked with for up to a decade came on board from day one. Relationships built over years proving their worth when it mattered most. Alongside them, three new clients rounded out the initial roster, giving me a genuinely busy start.

It's been challenging. The usual concerns apply: cash flow management, wearing every hat in the business, and the mental shift from employee to owner. But it's also been incredibly rewarding. The freedom to choose my projects, set my own direction, and build something that's entirely mine has made every difficult moment worthwhile.

I won't pretend that launching a company in the same month as getting married wasn't stressful. It was a lot. But it's all been paying off, and I'm glad I didn't wait for a quieter moment that might never have come.

Looking Ahead

If 2025 taught me anything, it's that the right time to make a change is when you're ready to commit to it fully. Two Clouds is just getting started. In 2026, I'm looking to grow the company, attract new clients, and continue providing a tailored service to the businesses that trusted me from day one.

Here's to more challenges, more growth, and hopefully a slightly calmer year on the life changing decisions front.
